Ein Gedicht über die Terroranschläge vom 26.11.2009 in Mumbai
The pigeons were fluttering over the Taj
People were rushing to catch the train at Victoria
The light at Leopold was shining bright
Mumbai looked so normal that night
Then suddenly there was a storm
A thunder of bullets and bombs
What hit the city was difficult to tell
But people all around like trees just fell
Mumbai was engulfed in fear and despair
There were cries of pain so difficult to share
A city so strong was vulnerable and suddenly bare
Who were those who had the courage to dare?
48 hours had gone by but no respite
The inferno at Taj was always in sight
Nariman house, Leopold café, were now quiet
26/11 would be remembered in history as THAT night
The commandoes in their black attire
Saved many lives and braved the fire
Kamte, Karkare, Omni and many others
Died in the cross fire while saving others
Sixty hours of anguish and scare
Nine of them were killed but one still there
The lives of many had been scarred
The image of Mumbai forever marred
Baby Moshe survived the attack of terror
Many others lived to share their tale of horror
There are lessons to be learnt from them
There is need for hatred to end
How long can we sit and mourn
How long can we live in fear
Its time to start rebuilding your life
End with your neighbor the long strife
Live together even if differences in thought persist
I am always right why one should insist
After all it is only when you give that you get
Let’s live together a life of no regret!
