Two academics advocate for change in the economically and politically instable Yemen
Die Presse, 16.12.2011 Vienna – “Outsiders only view Yemen as a refuge for Al Qaeda. However attention should be directed towards the twenty five million Yemenis, not the one hundred terrorists,” says Mohammed Al Maitami. The economist came to Vienna with his wife, Bilqis Jubari, on invitation of Women without Borders/SAVE, to talk about the situation in Yemen. In January 2011, Jubari launched a psychological counseling initiative there. She says that due to the economic crisis in Yemen, such engagement is necessary to combat Islamic fundamentalism. Such fundamentalism profits from a lack of support by people.”
